Hi Alan,

After discussions with CASA Standards Section we have agreed that provided the manufacturer signs a declaration that the propeller when it was fitted to the particular aircraft met or meets a known and accepted standard CASA will accept this. As an example if an aircraft was fitted with an inflight adjustable two years ago and it meets F 2506-13 and the aircraft manufacturer is willing to sign a declaration to same then it will be acceptable.

Hi Alan,

Working on this one as we speak, trying to work out the best way forward. Of course if the propeller meets the standard and the manufacturer is willing to sign for it then there is no reason that they should be ELSA. We just have to work in what form that we will accept the manufacturers declaration for same.

Mick,

Would it be acceptable to CASA if LSA manufacturers issued a Service Bulletin or like document which basically stated that LSA they had previously manufactured with “In Flight Adjustable Propellers” conformed with the newly available ASTM where the original Statement of Compliance was silent on the Propeller?

Assuming of course that such statement was technically correct.

If such an outcome was achieved would this satisfy CASA and remove the requirement for affected aircraft to be Experimental?
